Gombe Stream National Park

The Land of Wild Chimpanzees

Nestled along the shores of Lake Tanganyika, Gombe Stream National Park is a legendary destination where dense tropical forests meet intimate chimpanzee encounters.

Discover Gombe Stream National Park

Gombe Stream National Park may be Tanzania’s smallest national park, but it holds one of Africa’s greatest wildlife stories. Made world-famous by Dr. Jane Goodall’s groundbreaking chimpanzee research, Gombe offers visitors the rare opportunity to observe wild chimpanzees in their natural forest habitat. Located along the crystal-clear shores of Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania, Gombe is a magical combination of rainforest-covered mountains, hidden waterfalls, birdlife, and primate adventures. Trekking through the forest in search of chimpanzee families is both thrilling and deeply emotional as you witness their human-like behaviors, communication, and social interactions. Unlike traditional safari parks dominated by vehicles and open savannahs, Gombe delivers a completely different African experience — one filled with forest sounds, hiking trails, tropical scenery, and close wildlife encounters. Beyond chimpanzees, the park is home to olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, bush pigs, and over 200 bird species. Every trail through Gombe feels like stepping into a living nature documentary. For travelers seeking something unique, intimate, and deeply connected to nature, Gombe Stream National Park is one of East Africa’s most unforgettable hidden treasures.
